Fiber Project Timeline

UPDATED 6/3/2021

We broke ground on the first phase of fiber construction in early September 2020. As of June 2021 have fiber-based service live in green area on the map to the right. The yellow area is under construction now and is expected to be live at the end of June (with installations continuing into July).  The blue areas are slated for construction starting in July and ideally going live in August or September. The orange areas are not yet a "go" but our team is working on options to bring fiber that way.

  • If you think you might want our super-fast service, now is the time to tell us! Fill out this form!
  • Let us know if you would consider becoming an area captain. Help us connect with neighbors around your home, drum up awareness and support, distrubute flyers, invite neighbors to attend informational Zoom meetings, and encourage them to sign up for service. All this can help get you and your neighbors on fiber sooner.

Based on the amount of interest we have, we will be reaching out to the next potential construction areas in July to forge construction plans.

For each area we build, we need about 50% of the homes to subscribe for service for us to get to "go". As we're planning our construction, we offer HEAVILY discounted service for those that sign up early, especially for those that pay some of those fees up-front to help finance the project. With this model (which has service rates for every budget, from $0/mo to $150/mo, and has worked well in several other areas), we are able to approve construction in most areas once (a) the fiber has reached the edge of that area, and (b) we have 50% of the homes in that area signed up for service.

Our goal is to secure commitments and easements, begin constuction, and finally schedule installations throughout the rest of 2021, with the goal of having service in all areas with enough interst live in 2021 or the first half ot 2022. That said, it is important to remember that construction timelines for projects like this depend on many things not within Volo’s control, so that timeline is not guaranteed. Easement access, uptake, supply shortages, weather, and the pandemic are but a few.
