Swimming Pool Rules

Swimming is permittedonly when pools are open and a lifeguard is on duty. Trespassers will be prosecuted. Swimmers are expected to sign-in each day.

The lap pool is unattended during the evening (5-8 p.m.) and may be used by children only when they are accompanied by one or both parents. The wading pool is for small children under the age of five. The primary responsibility for the supervision of children in the wading pool is with the parents. A lap lane will be created at any time and in most circumstances for lap swimmers of all ages; we cannot provide a lane for each lap swimmer.

Running, shoving, ducking, and boisterous conduct will not be permitted. Nerf balls, air inflated pool balls, inflatable rafts, and small inner tubes, are permitted only when the pool is not crowded and with a guard's permission. Rafts will not be permitted from 12-5 p.m. Usually, playing basketball will not be permitted from 12-5 p.m. Indian Acres kickboards are reserved for swim team members and for adults swimming laps.

Food, drinks, gum, and radios without ear phones are not allowed on the deck. Smoking is prohibited in all areas of the park. Face mask windows must be made of plastic. Glass containers are not allowed on the deck or in dressing rooms.

Divers can suffer serious injuries and must be extremely careful when using the board. Only one diver will be permitted on the board at one time. Divers must see that the water is clear before diving. All dives and jumps must be made straight off the end of the board. Splash dives, double bouncing, handstands, inward dives, and swinging underneath the boards are prohibited at all times. Pool depth under the board is 10 feet, 6 inches. Diving from the sides of any pool is prohibited with one exception; diving from the edges of the main pool is permitted in the deep end during "open well" only.

The teaching and training pools may not be available for general use during instruction periods. All pools will be reserved for adults and children accompanied by one or both parents between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. The pools will be reserved for adults between 7:45 and 8:00 p.m.

Every hour on the hour, at the discretion of the guards, children may be required to leave the water for approximately ten minutes. During this time parents can enjoy an "adults only" swim. Children must stay back from the edges of the pool. During adult swim, the lap pool is to be used for lengths only, while the main pool can be used for widths, diving, and play.

Swimmers must be able to swim two widths of the main pool without the aid of flotation devices to swim in the deep end. Guards may ask swimmers to demonstrate their ability. All children jumping/diving off the board must be able to swim two widths of the pool.
